She was watching tv

sitting at the window

as I walked in the door

I couldn’t miss her

Not the way her eyes 
focused In and out

During the commercials

she applied lip gloss

and ate popcorn

The commercials ended        

and once again  

she’s focused

Standing by the window
hoping to find comfort     

In the warmth of her breath.
