Warmth of Her Breath

She was watching TV
                    Sitting at the window
As I walked in the door

I couldn’t miss her
Not the way her eyes focused
                                                           In and out

During the commercials
Such a wide smile on her face
                                      Bright lips painted red

When closed        loosely touching
                                       Resembling another pair
                                                            below her waist
Enveloped in cotton.

I stand helplessly waiting
                     Staring and hoping
                                        That I would kiss her

The commercials ended       and once again
                                                            she’s focused

Anxiously breathing             I stand by the window
                                                             waiting to taste her lips

Hoping to find comfort
In the warmth of her breath.
